I was honored to have three of my pieces featured as one of the regional Asian American artists in the "Passages" exhibition. This exhibit was in conjunction with the national exhibit "Our Journeys" by the nonprofit organization Vietnamese Boat People.

After the Vietnam War, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese immigrated to the U.S., with around 125,000 evacuated in 1975 and many more through refugee programs. By 2022, over 1.3 million Vietnamese immigrants resided in the U.S.

Water
Many Vietnamese refugees escaped their country in overcrowded boats, facing tremendous challenges such as storms, pirates, and starvation while at sea. These individuals became known as "boat people."

Land
While most Vietnamese refugees arrived in the U.S. by air or by sea as "boat people," around 20,000 fled by land through Cambodia to Thailand after the war.

Air
As part of large-scale evacuation efforts, tens of thousands of Vietnamese relocated to the U.S. in 1975, with more than 130,000 refugees resettling that year, often traveling on military and commercial flights.
